Andover is a significant town located in Andover, MA, with a population of approximately 36,000 people. The town has a land area of 80.3km square and a water area of 2.9km square, including notable water bodies such as Haggetts Pond, a reservoir for the inhabitants of Andover, Massachusetts, and the Shawsheen River, a 26,7-mile tributary of the Merrimack River. Pomps Pond and Foster Pond, a 120-acre lake named after Andrew Foster, Andover's 22nd settler, are two more important river bodies of the area. The town of 01810 is surrounded on the north by Merrimack River and Boston, on the west by Lowell, and on the south by Lawrence, with distances of 20 miles, 9 miles, and 4 miles respectively from each of these cities.

Prior to its renaming, the region currently known as Andover Town was recognized as "Cochichawick" by the Massachusetts residents who originally settled near the Merrimack River's south bank. In 1642, John Woodbridge, an English nonconformist, and minister founded a permanent colony in the region. In 1646, After its first inhabitant, who arrived from Andover, England, the hamlet was established as a town and christened Andover. The city flourished rapidly and became well-known for its agricultural, commercial, and religious poweress.

The congregational church, also known as the Old North Church, was founded in 1645 and played a role in the division of the town. Population flocked around the church due to its position in what is now known as North Andover. But, in 1709, Andover was separated into North and South Parish due to the growth of the town, development, and difficulties of transportation for the people in the south end. The South church, on Central Street, was then completed, and Samuel Phillips created the parish. From the beginning of its days, the area was never found wanting in business as its first Mill was established in 1775, and in 1789, a paper company was also established.

Today, the town is noted for not only being a pyramid of academics with over ten schools but also for having a residential and industrial region with a cluster of enterprises and commercial institutions distributed throughout. The town is served by Route 93, 495, 28, 133, and Route 125, which runs from north to south. The Ballardvard Station and the Andover Station, which is closer to the historic Third Railroad Station, are two of the town's railway terminals. Phillips Academy, an Andover landmark and pride, was founded in 1778 and is noted for noteworthy graduates such as former US President George W. Bush and former Yale President Dr. Benjamin Spock.

Andover Town was also blessed with a variety of parks and reserves of varied sizes, giving it a distinct identity. Andover Town is home to the Deer Jump Reservation, which is located along the Merrimack River, the Charles W. Ward Reservation, which is located at 34 Prospect Road, the Harold Parker State Forest, which was created in 1916 and has over 3000 acres, and Lawrence's Den Rock Park. In addition, the town has Whites occupying the majority of the 12,000 dwelling units, with minorities of African Americans, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics. There are also various golf courses, sports venues, restaurants, cafés, and inns in the area. Through renovations and development, Andover has constantly evolved into a peaceful haven for residents and a high-revenue-generating area. Ballardvale neighborhood just close by is another interesting area to visit.
